What Was I Thinking?

I Just Sent This To My US Senator

I am writing to thank Senator Sessions for his work in opposing the amnesty for illegal aliens bill, and to encourage his continued efforts in doing so if and when it gets brought up again.

As an average citizen, my concern is that our border is not secure. If we give amnesty to the illegal aliens already here without preventing more from coming, nothing is solved. More will come, will be encouraged to come. Stop the flow first, then decide what to do about those already here.

I personally won't trust the US government to enforce any new plan to stop new illegals that gets bundled into a single bill with a plan to legitimize those already here. I have no benefit of the doubt left to give. The fact that current immigration laws aren't being enforced makes it obvious that the "Path to citizenship" provisions would be followed while the border enforcement provisions would be quietly ignored.

Not to mention that, if the border is porous to honest, hardworking Mexicans looking for a better life, then it is also porous to terrorists looking for a way to infiltrate the US unnoticed and kill people.

"Provide for the common defense." It's right there in the preamble to the US Constitution. Our border needs defending, Senator Sessions. Make your colleagues understand that this is what we, the people, want. Demand. Insist upon, even.

Keep up the good work, sir.
