Recently, I have had the urge to express myself in the form of scripts. It's like real writing, except the descriptions and actions can be described without resorting to flowery language and pages of internal monologue. I have two ideas bouncing in my head right now, and I'm running the risk of losing my impulse to write them by relating them as I am about to, but what the hey.

Idea one: A short feature called "The Five-Minute Detective." It's a Dashell Hammett-type hard-boiled film noir about a down-on-his-luck private eye who gets a case from a femmey fatally. Over the next few minutes, a parade of characters ensues, entering and leaving the PI's office, giving clues, making threats, revealing plot twists, etc. The PI never leaves his office. At the end, the missing person comes in, and she shoots him. Then she threatens to shoot our hero, but the guy she just shot isn't quite dead yet, so he shoots her in the back. Think of The Maltese Falcon crammed into the length of a preview trailer.

Idea two: A movie titled Nine Lives about a homicidally insane, vaguely supernatural kitten. It looks just like an ordinary kitten, but it's constantly working at moving things around to try to get people into fatal accidents. I was thinking about how to make a horror/suspense/thriller movie without any ability, budget, or equipment for special effects. The beauty of this is all you have to do is show people getting killed ironically about the house, and then reveal a kitten sitting up on a shelf watching, or peeking around the same corner that runaway roller skate had come from. Plus, it'd be the cutest serial killer ever.
