There's a new report out, which I would link to if I could remember how. According to a study, the tobacco company's anti-teen-smoking ad campaigns actually cause more teens to smoke. Apparently, it turns out that when you tell a teenager not to do something, it makes them more likely to do it, rather than less likely as would be expected of any sane segment of society.
I am shocked. Shocked and appalled. To think that those damned rebellious teenagers are taking the decent gesture made by the nicotine conglomerates and turning it on its head in such a flagrant display of irony. I don't think anyone could have seen this coming.
Obviously, what they need to do is make commercials showing dorky dads enjoying smokes and embarrassing their teenaged children by their very existence, pointing out how much tobacco benefits the dad's evil purpose. Kids'll break their arms trying to throw their cigs away.
